1st Ever Blog Post!
Howdy everyone! Welcome!
I cannot believe I’ve grown my consulting company to include blogging. My 1st ever blog! Yay! I feel like external requests and pressures for me to write a blog have been a long time coming. And now I’m finally doing it—Writing for the world to read and see! #Growth
Growing up I dabbled in writing journals and diaries. But I was an inconsistent writer. Mostly noting my biggest heartbreaks and disappointments. As I matriculated through middle school, I honed my writing skills in Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) where I wrote the daily news and announcements, in fine arts class where I wrote plays, and in language arts class through the creation of my writing portfolio. That’s where I learned that I was a good writer. I was ranked Distinguished, the highest honor, as an 8th grader.
Naturally, my teachers encouraged me to keep going. And I did. By the end of my high school career, I was a multiple scholarships, award winning writer, and my writings had landed me at the Mayor’s banquet table accepting an award from the city and spotlighted on the local news channel as one of the twelve, “Great Kids Fulfilling the Dream.”
Eventually after I finished my master’s degree, I invested in daily journaling. At the time, it was therapeutic for me. I needed it. Badly. A place to be free. A place to speak my mind. A place to unravel and be undone. And a place to record my lived experiences, jot down my racing thoughts, track my fickle feelings, a place to plot my next steps & adventures, and a place to map out the vision that had been given to me. Writing—The task I had once dreaded became a source of clarity for me.
Fast forward 15 years and a whole dissertation later, here I am finally penning my 1st ever blog post! It’s been a long time coming. Thank you everyone for your patience. My readers and listeners knew, and have always known, I just needed time to arrive at the same conclusion. While I’m proud of the journey that carried me here, I’m so intrigued to see where it may lead me. Cheers to what I hope is the 1st of many more to come! 🍾🥂
